What is an Ion?

An Ion is a charged atom that has gained or lost an electron, which creates a magnetic field capable of neutralizing oppositely charged particles. These neutralized particles are pulled out of the body through a process called osmosis. Osmosis is a scientific term that is used to describe the movement of particles through a membrane from a lower concentration to a higher concentration. In this case the higher concentration refers to the ion field that is set up by placing the array into the water.

The array goes into the water with the hands or feet, and the power supply delivers a small amount of direct current into the array. This causes the metals within the array, in combination with water and sea salt mineral, to generate positively and negatively charged ions by separating oxygen and hydrogen in the water. While you are being treated by the Ionic Foot Bath these ions are being absorbed by the body.

Distilled water has NO CONDUCTIVITY as is does not have the minerals found in normal tap water. Therefore the change in the water that you see at the end of 40 minutes is due to rod deterioration which occurs over time which is why the rods need to be replaced after 80-160 sessions depending on the model being used. If you choose to use distilled water, you will need to use 3 teaspoons of salt rather then the 1 teaspoon recommenced in our manual or the manual you received with your product.

NOTE* Operating the foot bath without feet in the water, it will turn the water different colors; yellow to orange to brown because the minerals and other impurities in the tap water will precipitate out. However; you can see the difference between this and a foot treatment. Please note that if the tap water is particularly impure, the difference in water color between feet and no feet will be less noticeable, just like adding a handful of dirt to already dirty water. The fact that the water changes color is evidence that the array is working properly

****The Foot Bath PRO spa should not be used by individuals, who are epileptic or hemophiliac, or those with a pacemaker, implanted organs or on blood thinners. It should also not be used by children under age 4, or during pregnancy or lactation. There maybe other situations in which you should not use this unit.
